Huawei is Keen to Make Every City in China Smart in IoT world

Huawei has combined expertise with Weifeng City to develop, what they call, ‘nervous system’ for smart cities. The company previously created a new model based on NB-IoT and Huwai Ocean Connect IoT Platform which will serve as the foundation for their new idea.

The new system will use a “one network, one platform, N applications” model which will capitalize Big Data, IoT cloud computing, and next generation ICT. The city-level IoT platform will be optimized for better management, unified access, data collection from every IoT enabled devices.

Apart from than, the Chinese telecom giant collaborated with the government and established Huawei-Weifang Smart City IoT Industry Alliance and Huawei-Weifang IoT Innovation R&D Centre. These innovative platforms are created to improve city management and public services, and improve industrial application of NB-IoT. The company has already facilitated smart lighting in the different parts of China, and soon it is planning to create distinct infrastructures to make the country smarter.

The new platform includes a plethora of value-added services including video surveillance, environment monitoring, Wi-Fi Hotspots, vehicle quantity surveillance, statistics, and smart traffic monitoring. Currently, the smart lightning monitors the consumption of electricity in streets and homes, adjusts brightness by considering the environment, detects faults, and saves 70% of total electricity consumption. It also provides real time data for city light management.

Besides, Huawei has also been added by the Z-Wave Alliance as a member of Board of Directors. The company is now amongst the founder members FIBARO, Jasco Products, LEEDARSON, LG Uplus, Sigma Designs and Smart Things.
